Peter Barrett is widely regarded as an accomplished musician, composer and highy experienced music teacher.
Peter boasts a career stretching back to the publication of his first composition by EMI at just 14 years old, which encompasses everything from Diplomas to Scandinavian chart hits. Studying at the renowned Birmingham Conservatoire and the University of Reading, Peter gained his first diploma from the London College of Music at the age of 17, and since then has written a range of compositions for all manner of audiences.
His choral and orchestral pieces have been performed by children across Kent (and regularly at Canterbury Cathedral), and his compositions are heard on radio stations throughout Scandinavia. What’s more, in the 1980s and 1990s, Peter made his name as a songwriter for the Swedish pop group Troll – whose accomplishments include a number one single and album in Sweden and Finland.
Away from the spotlight, Peter Barrett has earned over 25 years’ teaching experience, including Head of Music in a range of secondary schools, with time spent at Canterbury Christ Church University and Kent Music School, before founding All Music (Whitstable) to bring the joy of music to the wider local community.
Peter’s experience, enthusiasm and passion for music is passed on to all of our tutors and from there to all of our students. So when you book a music lesson with All Music (Whitstable), you’re booking a fun, exciting learning experience with people who really understand the joy of music.
We’re able to provide home visits throughout Canterbury (subject to availability) to work around your lifestyle and commitments, and we’ve even had success providing tuition via webcam to pupils who live too far away for face-to-face lessons, or who have mobility issues.
Everyone here at All Music (Whitstable) is passionate about music, especially our founder Peter Barrett, and it’s our pleasure to share that passion with you.
